Deneholme

Originally a blacksmith' cottage and workshop this holiday home now provides a good base for walking on Alston moor, visiting the Lake District, Teeesdale and Hadrian's Wall or just relaxing with an open fire and a good book.

FACILITIES
The cottage is small but convenient being larger upstairs than down! (One bedroom is built over the neighbouring property.) There is a living room with open fire (coal and logs provided) or electric fire, radio, TV (B&W), double 'put you up', etc. The small kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, refrigerator, twin-tub washing machine and cupboards. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms, one with a double bed and single bed and the other with a
double bed and two bunk beds. The bath room has an electric shower over the
bath. Hot water is heated by an immersion heater and the cottage is
heated by electric storage heaters.

All cutlery and crockery, pots and pans etc. are provided as are duvets* and pillows for beds but visitors must provide their own bed linen or use sleeping bags. (*Blankets are provided in store if preferred.)

There is a small garden in front of the cottage.

The cottage is at 1,400ft. Above sea level at the heart of the North Pennines AONB. Leaflets about local places of interest are provided in the cottage. The Lake district and Hadrian's Wall are in easy reach and Nenthead lead mine, once the largest in Europe, is well worth a visit. There is a church and chapel, a good restaurant, a pub, Post Office and shop in Nenthead with many more shops in Alston, just four miles away.

Cars can be parked outside the cottage or in the village car park. A telephone, Alston (01434) 381843 is provided in the cottage but visitors are asked to pay for their calls.
