Hardy’s Hill

An attractive 150 year-old cottage in the Derbyshire
Peak District

“What a wonderful surprise to step into this cottage so thoughtfully and artistically equipped and furnished” – wrote one of our guests.

Our 150 year-old stone-built terraced cottage is in the Wirksworth conservation area known as ‘Puzzle Gardens’.  Still retaining some of its original features, the cottage is in a peaceful spot, yet only five minutes’ walk to the market place, shops, pubs and restaurants.  It is ideal for up to four people but could accommodate up to six at a squeeze.

On the ground floor is a comfortably furnished sitting room and a modern well-appointed kitchen/dining area.  An open staircase leads to a large bedroom (with double bed) and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds.  There is also a double sofa bed in the sitting room.  There is a modern bathroom with bath and shower.  Travel cot and high chair are also available.

Our cottage also has an attractive small garden and pond.  Nearby is free off-street car parking and a small park and children’s play area.

Facilities in our cottage include:

  • Gas central heating throughout
  • Coal-effect gas fire in sitting room
  • Gas cooker, microwave, toaster, washing machine and fridge
  • Radio/CD/cassette player
  • Leaflets, maps and books about the area
  • Small selection of games, books, tapes and CDs

Wirksworth is a fascinating and historic small market town  south of Matlock.  Known as ‘Derbyshire’s Historic Gem’, Wirksworth has a host of unusual buildings and lots of jitties and ginnels to explore.  Even without using your car, there are plenty of walks to do and places to discover around Wirksworth.

Our cottage provides an ideal base from which to explore the hills and dales of the Peak District National Park, visit historic towns and stately homes, admire the well dressings … or just relax and do nothing!

Within easy reach are Dovedale, Bakewell, Chatsworth, Matlock and the Heights of Abraham, Derwent Valley World Heritage Site, National Tramway Museum at Crich, Ashbourne … and many more fascinating places to visit and discover.

We look forward to welcoming you as our guests.  If you would like to make a booking or wish to make any enquiries, please do get in touch with us.
