'L'Ancienne Forge' & surrounding area
"L'Ancienne
Forge is available for sabbaticals only, and is free from
the beginning of
November to the end of March."
The cottage dates from 1879 and is a converted forge, which has been fully renovated and modernised whilst retaining its original character and charm.
L'Ancienne Forge in Brémontier, Normandy, is ideally situated for exploring this region of France. Paris, Giverny (Monet's Garden) and Versailles are only a short distance away as are channel ports such as Calais, Boulogne and Dieppe (see back page for more details and map of area).
The cottage is situated on the edge of the tiny hamlet of Brémontier, in the region of the Pays de Bray, which is a pleasant walking area, 3 miles from the Forêt de Lyon. The picturesque town of Lyon-la-Forêt, in the heart of the forest, is 12 miles away.
Brémontier is 5 miles from the nearest town of Gournay-en-Bray, which offers a supermarket and basic shops. There is also a small village baker's shop 2½ miles away.
Accommodation
L'Ancienne Forge can comfortably accommodate 6-8 guests with its three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Heating is by electric radiators,
plus the wood burning stoves in lounge and dining room. Duvets and pillows are
provided. Please bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels.
There is no charge for the use of the cottage, but guests are asked to make a contribution of £80 per week, if they can, to cover the running costs of water, gas, electricity and local taxes.
