Quiet 3 bedroom holiday cottage at the edge of the medieval village of St Gengoux le National. Our well equipped gite has a kitchen, lounge, dining area, garage, garden, and patio / terrace. It is near restaurants, cafes, bakers, supermarkets, bank, tourist information office, winery and other shops. The rural area is excellent for walking, cycling, and exploring the picturesque villages, vineyards and varied countryside of Southern Burgundy, France. Taize religious community and Cormatin chateau are a short drive whilst Cluny, Beaune, Macon and many wine villages are in easy reach.
AREA
Rolling hills, vineyards, open fields, woods, pretty stone villages, numerous chateaux, abundant wild flowers and birds make this an excellent area to explore on foot or by car. There are also plains and forests whilst Beaune (hospice), Cluny (abbey) and Taize (religious community - 15 mins) are in easy reach. Further afield day trips can include Alps, Jura, Geneva and Lyon.
RECREATION
There are waymarked footpaths, green lanes and quiet roads to enjoy. A 44km disused railway passing through the town is popular with walkers, skateboarders and cyclists - there are 2 adult and 3 children's bikes at the cottage. Tennis in town.

A short drive away is a swimming lake with a beach and facilities. There are also several swimming opportunities in the river Grosne and at pools in nearby towns.

There are theme parks and town/city facilities within 30-60 mins.
Many wineries, including StG, offer free tastings. There are many restaurants in the area offering a superb range of high quality meals at inexpensive prices.
