St. Maelrubha’s Church, pictured above, is in the pretty, coastal village of Poolewe, Wester Ross, close to the River Ewe where it flows into the sea.
Church House is a purpose-built, church-owned, holiday bungalow situated behind the church and adjoining the church hall, but with its own entrance.
Located in an area of outstanding beauty, Poolewe is an ideal base for touring the Highlands, walking, bird watching, golf, pony trekking, sea life cruises, or … just doing nothing but enjoy the peace and quiet. It lies at the head of Loch Ewe on the A832 Wester Ross Coastal Trail, approximately 1 ½ hours north-west of Inverness.
There are two bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin) with fitted wardrobes; bathroom with shower over the bath; comfortably furnished sitting/dining room with colour TV, DVD player, radio/CD player, and dining table and chairs. There is a French door leading to a patio and enclosed lawn area at rear. The fully fitted and well equipped kitchen has electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and automatic washing machine (washing line in garden). It is well supplied with duvets, pillows, and bed linen, but does not include towels and tea towels. Rates include night storage heating and hot water; all other electric facilities operated by £1 coin meter.
The village has a well-stocked village store/post office, coffee shop, hotel/restaurant, and an indoor heated swimming pool. The world-famous Inverewe Gardens are within walking distance.

St. Maelrubha’s Church, Poolewe, and Courthill Chapel, Kishorn, are served by non-stipendiary priests: the Revd. Heather Widdows, the Revd. John Searl, the Revd. Pam Shinkins and a small, lay leadership team.
To maintain a weekly Eucharist in these congregations during the season, holidaying priests may be asked to celebrate the Sunday Eucharist at St. Maelrubha’s, if willing. We would, of course, ensure you were given ample notice.
* There would be a £50 reduction in the tariff if you were willing to celebrate.
Lay people will be available to lead the first part of the service, read lessons (the Common Lectionary is used), lead the intercessions, prepare the altar and give general assistance.
A note detailing local usage is in the vestry, and adherence to it would be appreciated to ensure continuity of worship. Vestments in all liturgical colours are provided, but please, if you should be asked to celebrate, bring your own cassock/alb or equivalent.
